In the year of our Lord, 1995

I went down in the basement and opened several of my nostalgia boxes and found a mother load of cassette tapes. Most of them were mix tapes I made for people in which were never given, that I had doubles made or that I made for trips and for the summer jobs I had driving cement trucks (CDL Class A licensed driver here - yup, the chicks dig the “big truck”). In the mix of tapes I found a Denon cassette tape (Yes, I used high quality Denon tapes, I’m a nerd!) with the label “ninety-five favs.”
So I listened to the tape and picked the 12 of my favorites and ones I could find from that tape (the tape had more tracks) and created another muxtape. Some artists that got the nix for the mux: Pulp, Red House Painters, Catchers, Morphine, Son Volt, Wilco and the High Llamas.

This is great! Nineteen ninety-five was a good year, eh? This era brought jangle-pop and alt country to it’s feet, didn’t it? Thanks for sharing, Mr. Renaud!

I have been enjoying the heck out of this this afternoon. While I did get round to these bands eventually, I have to admit it wasn’t 1995 in most cases.
